Patrick Imbardelli – Whole World Water

Patrick Imbardelli, the managing director of investment company Imbardelli Holdings Limited, has spent his 30-year career in the hospitality industry. He has been instrumental in the formation of market strategies for strengthening the operations of the InterContinental Hotels Group, the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, and Hilton International in locations in the U.S. and Asia. He also notably brokered a joint venture between InterContinental Hotels Group and ANA Hotels Japan to form the largest foreign hotel management company in the country.

This storied career has sharpened Imbardelli’s perception of the hospitality and tourism industry, which has shown susceptibility to economic cycles. Imbardelli translates his experience into expertise in capital restructures, investments in developing companies, and integrating hotel management companies, businesses, and brands. On top of these, he keeps an eye out for new trends in the sector that compel changes in operations and best practices.

The hospitality industry is currently coming around to sustainable practices, as the world’s pressing social issues weigh on its existence. One of these issues is lack of access to clean and safe water for more than a billion people worldwide. This is the cause of an outbreak of malnutrition, famine, and disease.

To this end, Imbardelli joined the roster of ambassadors of Whole World Water, a charity registered in the UK that seeks to grow a fund for investment in clean and safe water projects worldwide. The fund is built upon the proceeds of sales of bottled water filtered and processed by participating hotels. The charity envisions universal access to clean and safe water, while helping member businesses improve their bottomlines by as much as 28 percent.

Imbardelli joins the likes of Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, and Sir Richard Branson as ambassadors of the initiative. Members also identify projects and communities toward which the fund can be allocated.
